I’ve been referring to OHMSS as “The James Bond Christmas Special” since the 1980s, and for decades it was required viewing in the holiday season, but your apologia for it as truly being a Christmas movie goes far beyond anything I ever considered- the phone call to family on Christmas Eve argument is brilliant all by itself. Well done!

Well.. I’m convinced, And I think HMV’s branding department should be as well. Wonderfully argued!

But, let’s remember… “OHMSS” is for life, not just for Christmas.

I saw the film quite recently and was struck not just by the quality, but the atmosphere and the performances. I’m not sure if I want to call it a Christmas film, given that it’s quite lengthy and much of it takes place during the summertime. But that would only show my own hypocrisy, given that my favourite childhood Christmas film was the first Harry Potter, which only had a few scenes set during the holiday.

So I guess what I’m trying to say is “hell yeah”
