It always feels slightly odd for me to be watching the Third Doctor anywhere that isn’t 1970s(ish) Earth. I’d completely forgotten about the new title sequence on a previous watch! It was a lovely surprise, perhaps because I didn’t see most of this season until a long time after I’d seen most of the rest of Pertwee.

It’s yet another pseudo-historical, or the first since Abominable Snowmen (Time Monster is… something other). Sarah Jane going on about feminism is a bit clunky compared to who she becomes but we’ve had 3 years of a plucky teenage clutz. This title sequence blew my mind when I first saw it completely unspoiled I’d no idea Pertwee had two versions, it wasn’t shown in the RT 20th special!
