The way Avon and the arch-enemy Servalan interact in this episode is awesome in billions of ways and also I think series B should have had the Liberator crew have more interaction with Servalan and also series B would have worked out better with the arch-enemy Servalan having a new lackey with a new name rather than the awful recasting of Travis

So lovely to see you making a start on Series C - yes, it'a quite a good jumping-on point in some respects isn't it (which must have been in the minds of the production team).

I remember being so delighted by all the Servalan/Avon material - it felt like a new, fresh combination of characters. But, then again, the whole thing seemed a bit more adult because it seemed to be dealing a bit more with relationships (or, at least, as a teenager this was how it struck me at the time). Nice to see that you're seeing this shift in Avon's character now that he's bumped up to lead.

Also delighted that you like Dayna - I think she was brilliantly introduced and was immediately a very exciting and engaging new figure for the series.

The kiss between Avon and Dayna was - I *think* - featured in the trailers for the new series. My personal recollections are that nobody batted an eyelid at the time - this sort of thing was no longer any big deal on television.

It's a shame that you sort of know that Hal won't get to read his own name on the closing credits isn't it? Even at the time, I was old enough to understand about the tropes of introducing new characters to an ongoing show... and he really seemed doomed from his first entrance. Shame...

Thanks again for these blogs - a lot of fun, with a lot of happy memories for me!

A splendid assessment of Aftermath. I recall too how I looked forward to it eagerly hoping for answers to all the questions I had at the end of Star One, only to find it never answered any of them, but gave me an exciting new dynamic for the series instead. Absolutely the right approach. Consequently it’s one of my favourite episodes. The tension between Avon and Servalan is amazing and Josette Simon really sparkles as Dayna. The run of Star One to Powerplay is the show at its strongest, for me. So glad you are enjoying these. Your enthusiasm is delightful. Good luck with the rest of your journey!

It is one peck by an overeager teenager that is not even reciprocated by Avon! It is never even mentioned again in the whole series. The director just fancied adding a few snogs in the opening episode.
I am being helpful, you won't have to wade through awful fanwank fic if you know nothing happens anyway.
